The Probabilistic Approach to Seismology

From seismology, we can work out the broad areas where earthquakes are going to occur. The problem you get is that some faults don't have earthquakes that frequently. Some of them might only have earthquakes every thousand years or even longer. And this is a real challenge of seismic hazard - trying to match up what's being detected and how does it relate to long-term geological record.
