The Importance of Intent
On the intent front as we look at it we see a divided America. Dean Acheson once said the average American has less than 10 minutes a week to devote to the study of foreign affairs and that was before the internet stole all our time and attention. I think Churchill understood us pretty well when he said you can always count on the Americans do the right thing after they've exhausted all the alternatives. Until very recently Australians were kind of similar this way we're a long way from anywhere we're self-contained why do I need to know the latest policy statement of the Chinese government or the Indian government this is just not very interesting, says David Cameron.
