Buddhism and Commercialism in Buddhist Temples
The tension between the commercial venture or activity of tourism and the supposedly otherworldly nature of Buddhism is a theme in your new book. Much scholarly literature on Tiberism tends to frown upon anything that has a whiff of commodification, but my sense is you don't seem to see it this way. And so they all had these like different lines between the sacred and the profane and they had different ways of creating that line. But what I'm talking about is something that's that can be more kind of debated.
