In 19 63, a third incident confirmed the rift between malcolm x and elijah mahammed. When president john f kennedy was assassinated in november of that year, malcolm x made unsympathetic comments about his death in the press. Later on the same year, rumors began to emerge that elijah mohammed was having affairs with several of his secretaries,. He had even fathered illegitimate children. This was a direct contradiction of nation of islam teachings.
