The First Atomic Clock
In the middle of the 20th century, a wonderful thing happened. We started to have atomic clocks. And ever since people started to make CZM clocks, these clocks have been improving. But it bottomed out around a part in 10 to the 14 and we're not satisfied with that number. That's why our laser cooling group is developing new techniques for making them better. Are there any more uncertainties on this curve? It could be as high as 16 per cent.
