Is TMA a New Entity?
TMA is everywhere. And we just kind of had to get on the bandwagon and not to be left behind. The biggest problem was that it was a disease of the hematologists. They're the only ones who could look at the peripheral smear and tell us if there's enough schistocytes to make this diagnosis. If there wasn't, we really couldn't do anything,. It feels like there's lots of other stuff we think about including a typical HUS right at the top because we have medicines and a better understanding of how these things work.
