Jobs allowed his skepticism to be overruled by his natural inclination to find a better way to do things. The world is complex it's impossible for all good ideas to come from one person. A young steve jobs had a really hard time working with jeff raskin, who was part of the mac program. He suggested that jobs get management training before being allowed to manage other projects.
