Astonishing is something that shocks us or surprises us in a positive way. We often use this word to describe food and the menu at a five star hotel. Astonishing could be doe with an experience we have, such as travelling abroad. It could also be about how much food you can eat when on holiday. And it's astonishing that i didn't put on any weight because of exercise.
