The War on Minorities
The roots of prohibition in every single ignorance throughout the ages are usually or I should say always based around xenophobia. So it has been, as you say, very much related to a war on minorities. It's an ethnocentric war and the practices and traditions of these minorities have been stigmatized alongside with them. For example, if you go and you fumigate plantations of cocoa in countries in Latin America, it's you as a human being considering that you have the rights to exterminate another species altogether. What about their rights? And what about their subjectivity and what about nature's rights?"
