The Great Attractor
In infrared, astronomers are able to see through the gas and dust in the middle of the Milky Way. This allows them to image what is known as the great attractor - a bunch of galaxies. The center of mass distribution of this larger supercluster is nicely lined up with the middle ofthe Milky Way.
