I think the commonwealth has demonstrated its capacity to evolve. There is a space for different kinds of leadership within the commonwealth, as executive leadership or symbolic leadership. But that blend won't be found if the conversations about the colonial past aren't had. Organizations like the commonwealth foundation and other commonwealth civil society organizations are creating the spaces for those kinds of discussions. And i don't think that the commonwealth is going to end. We can see that the membership's growing. It's not declining. I think we need reflect on britain as an imperial power. If we spend too much time criticising the common Commonwealth, we're missing really the complexities of this painful but important
