The Importance of Understanding the World

In 2010, 19% of the EU was water stressed. That's a long time ago. You can see us a whole set of circumstances coming together that are in themselves not great, but they're not critical. So I think trying to explain how the world actually functions is an important thing that economists are quite good at doing. But we historians, I think, don't always do. And so reintegrating geography, economics, history, biological sciences, plant sciences, and so on into a whole gives people more information so they can work out for themselves.
