The Decline of Accountability in the War on Terror

As the war on terror is kind of winding down, at least in its Iraq and Afghanistan manifestations, you certainly have this massive kind of military industrial NGO complex that's kept all this money going into it. And now what do they do? Right, that some of it is just the dynamic of, you know, NGOs and bureaucracies need something to justify the money. So this was a convenient point. Even less cynically, perhaps, though it's effectively the same thing, they have now internalized the worldview. They have this massive hammer and everything is a nail to them. But I'd be willing to have a conversation about how much unaccountable power could be tolerated if it was competent
