The History of Barbed Wire in Texas
The first iterations of barbed wire were extremely cruel. The barbs are really long. They were extremely painful to walk into as a person, but also extremely dangerous for cattle. It was one of those inventions that fundamentally shaped the West. There's a great history of barbedwire both in the American West but also its usage later in World War II and concentration camps called the devil's wire or the devil's rope.
