The parable of the good Samaritan became very influential in the development of healthcare over 2000 years. And that's why, for instance, the monasteries were set up on the roads where the travelers were to provide the first aid and the emergency departments of centuries ago. So I think that idea that we are called to respond compassionately to the chance encounters that we have is a very deep one. The Christian EA kind of manifesto goes on to use theParable of the lost sheep as an illustration. But when I was reading that, I was struck by actually, I think they've misunderstood the parable.
