COSTA 2 RBDs in SARS-1 Viruses
SARS-1 spike with the COSTA 1 and 2 RBD. And then you do your plate readers and what you find with COSTa 1 and 2. The point of the proteases to basically bypass another entry barrier. It can bind to the cell, it interacts with the receptor, and then it is processed by a host protease in the cell. So even if there's a slight interaction between that receptor binding domain and the receptor, the protease allows us to kind of get rid of whatever would quail that signal and let us actually detect it.
