In a past life, I was a ghostwriter for people who work with Alzheimer's patients and dementia patients. Instead of me walking out of there feeling depressed, which is how I used to feel all the time, or I'd look up and be like, Jesus Christ, dad, seriously, you left me this. "I'm going to write a book called Placido Domingo sings in the furnished basement," she says. She also wonders if it's because her mind realizes it has to keep itself company.
