Pinker's Violence in Past History

Up until about to or 300 years ago, i would argue, accepted violence as a normal way of resolving conflict and problems. So it's only quite recently that violence has been considered to be bad. Pinker presents his readers with a very simplicity, a very black and white idea of what violence is. The past is bad, the present is a good sort of thing. But you have to try and understand how people living in a particular place in a particular time thought of violence.
