The Effects of Fluid on Resuscitation Rates
In the original trial 2011 which maybe kick started a lot of the thinking on this these were patients who were given fluid as they came through the door it was very rapid and they hadn't been exposed to fluid before. The mechanisms of which that may be harmful from subsequent works are probably a vascular injury so endothelial disruption leading to capillary leak and inflammation. So in this really great trial the patients already had around over 30 mils per kilo of fluid on average so they were already resuscitated and fluid overload was avoided.
