Can I Screw This Up?
The structures of functional style coding are such that they push you hard down the direction of, write this small, concise, easy to understand chunks. You can still go ahead and write link statements that are long enough to fill a page of a book. But if you write it well, though, you'll end up with something that will tend to be structured well and easier to understand. And it usually is much easier to maintain.
