The Books - Album Music Pick of the Week

The Books is a record that I was introduced to when I was in graduate school by my good friend, Nate Blighton. And they made all of this music in... It sounds very like early 2000s, like, indie rock kind of vibe for a lot of it. The drummer is like playing along with the speech rhythm of what's going on in these like relatively naturally spoken speech samples from some like 1930s radio show or something. They use a lot of found sounds in these otherwise pretty straight ahead indie rock songs.
