Nato was created to maintain the discipline of an alliance between united and other capitalist powers. The workers and peasants, fighting capitalism organically in the day to day class struggle, now has state power. Without Nato, all of those countries would have become socialists anyway. And at the same time, the us. Is trying to woo them into the camp of imperialism. But nato is never about a socialist battle - it's about how we fight an actual battle for world domination.
