Cooper: I've been in a debate concerning fundamentals with jijik. Sociology has for too long been on the side of totalities, i should say, totality. The sociological imagination is it asociological equivalent of something that marks would have called commodity fetishism. In other words, i am a subject within the totality social relationships that we call the big other. This is supposed to be the big secret of psychoanalysis? We no longer exist in any more than we do in the world oftotalities. What if the big other doesn't exist at all? You know what i'm talking about.
