The basic idea of a media mix model is to ask the question of are my advertising dollars being spent wisely. Media mix modeling essentially is fancy multiple linear regression, which tries to say how many customers or how many sales are being driven by each channel. So that's at its basics. It's multiple linear regression. And then there are some fancy extensions that you can put on top of that in order to deal with more complicated aspects of how you think advertising works.
