The Paradox of Melancholy
Melancholy offers the paradox of an intention to mourning, which proceeds and anticipates the loss of the object. What makes melancholy so strange is not, no, I don't want to lose the object, I retain my fidelity to the object. It's the contrary, it's the object is still here and I already treat it as if it's lost, I already mourn its loss.
