Tutankhamun's Mummy Is in a Very Difficult Condition
It seems that to Howard Carter, the king's body was less significant than anything else. There wasn't a real appreciation that the mummy as a whole was an important thing. The other mummies that have been recovered from the Valley of the Kings are in much better condition whereas Tutankhamun is covered in sort of sticky resin that's glued him in place. It does seem needless, they destructive and to do it so quickly. You wonder really what they were hoping to find.
