The Social and the Clinical Struggles of the Enslaved
There's a long history of the racialization of normative genders, and we see some of that playing out around the really ecstatic panics around white childhood at this particular moment in time. In those states that go after trans rights are also states that really struggle with critical race theory that are showing tremendous anxieties and spheres and paranoia around racial difference. This is where psychoanalysis can step in with our model of the unconscious, so it does matter what model the unconscious we're working with but the unconscious becomes a way of understanding the idiosyncratic ways that any one person might respond to the cultural surround.
