In 1811, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In France, a breast cancer treatment already started in the 1740s,. where in England only in 92. And the idea was that you had to remove the whole breast, the pectoral muscles, and the glands as well. No anaesthetics, as you said, she was given a bit of wine cordial here and there; her... I don't know how much more of the same take really.
