How Do Formal Characteristics Work in Literature?
I think sometimes in literature words rendered in a certain way can do something very similar and give us access to an experience or that is direct and non-propositional and can therefore cannot be articulated in words. I want to say just like a painting might bring us a certain kind of experience a kind of direct acquaintance with something that we can't put into words so how does it work with fiction? In the book I try to give some examples where formal characteristics come together to convey something you know we can talk a lot about that and how they put together but we can't say what they do.
