In 1891 a man died in New York City, aged 72. By the centennial of his birth he was widely admired as one of the greatest American authors. He's now firmly in the American pantheon with figures like Tony Morrison and Mark Twain. We'll have to look at Pierre Melville's wild semi-autobiography. Moby Dick, what a great time to be alive.
