Brilliant is a young woman in Zimbabwe who's never really known any kind of childhoods. At the age of 17, she got pregnant and after that, they just couldn't afford to keep her in school and she dropped out. Stories like hers are actually depressingly common and that's because teen pregnancies in Zimbabwe as with many other places rose during the COVID lockdown. The number of pregnancy related dropouts from school is increasing. In 2021, nearly 6,000 young mothers dropped out of school - but government estimates don't always capture true number.
