I think we can say that Proclos was a brilliant student. He read as much as he could of Plato, so he didn't content himself with a sort of a minimalistic course and readings in Plato. These were the texts in which you could find information about political virtue and how to develop it. I imagine he wrote on Plato's Republic for these better students.
