The GMC came out with some guidance in 2017 on disclosing gunshot and stabbing wounds. There's an absolutely excellent blog on this which is on the GMC website by Adrian Boyle who goes through some of those nuances. Definitive treatment for the most severe of penetrating injuries is in theatre with an expert surgical team it isn't anywhere else. Time is absolutely key so limit on scene times and transport times and times in ED for any unnecessary investigation as much as possible. Make sure the interventions that you're performing are those which are meaningful to patient outcomes, use your transport time to gain as much historical and clinical information as possible and make the receiving centre as appropriate as possible.
