The History of the Basque Children
Most of the children who were sent over to Britain didn't anticipate they would be here for very long. A lot of them have had quite significant political experiences as part of their upbringing during the Spanish Second Republic. It was impossible to sustain this initial broad-based humanitarian enthusiasm for them. As time goes on, the children were able to contribute a little to their own upkeep as funds tightened.
