The anion gap, the excretion of the keto acids in your urine being a titrable acid, that came as a big surprise to me. I always think about them being lost in the urine as a very negative impact on your acid-based balance. It's kind of ironic that a dialysis patient can't acidify their urine will repair their metabolic acidosis and DKA very quickly.
