The Trends in Timor Politics Over the Last 20 Years

There are two trends that are developing in Timor and have been over the last 20 or so years. One is independence obviously which has radically changed the nature of the country but the other is globalization from a country that was almost totally isolated from the world for a very long time. All of a sudden particularly the younger generation are seizing onto social media there's close to half a million Facebook accounts in Timor. Almost everybody has has a smartphone of one description or another, this is tying in with a country where connection with other people has always been a very important part of life anyway.
