The Fallacy of General Purpose AI
This is because our biology endows this with certain pre-linguistic moral sentiments, such as care for offspring and in group altruism. Language generalizes these sentiments into ethical values, whether widely held or aspirational. Oral and written languages have mediated the field of ethics. But again, it's important that these are texts that are produced and interpreted by people who like actually have full linguistic competence. And I'm not sure we want general purpose AI technology. Like that's another, you know, all of a sudden, but existential risk is like, so don't build it.
