Economic growth and opportunity tend to be correlated. Sometimes the problem is we don't have enough growth, not that we have too much. One view of mine is that not enough philanthropy is long term oriented in this regard. I've been influenced by your chance uckerberg initiative,. There are too many choke points that can say no. So emergent ventures is a new kind of philanthropy. People are encouraged to apply. If the pay off is 30, forty years down the road, the attitude is great... but worry about getting some winters and some risk.
