Eric Townsend: There simply isn't any alternative to nuclear that can generate clean electricity on the scale we're going to need it to solve this crisis. Nuclear energy most assuredly can scale up to produce 180,000 terawatt hours of new clean safe energy by 2050. But doing so will require a complete reversal of public policy and then it will take at least a full decade to build out all the nuclear power plants we'll need. The overarching theme is that there's really nothing inherently unsafe or wrong with nuclear power.
