The Importance of Health Equity

Nothing improves health equity, like putting more money in people's pocket. No single measurable event that's closed equity gaps greater than Medicaid expansion. If we would have had a family medical leave and the child tax credit were passed and allowed to stay, they would probably be the single biggest difference in improving people's lives. Unless we're willing to do the really hard important things, you're not going to see movement in those life expectancy discrepancies.
