The Advantages of ZFS
ZFS is one of the few file systems that uses dNodes, not iNodes. They're dynamically allocated as required. The limit to the number of objects that can exist in a ZFS file system is 18 billion billion. But that's per file system. And ZFS, each data set is a separate file system. So you can create 18 billion billion file systems, each containing 18 billion billion files.
