How Effective Is Your Blood Pressure Medication?
Efficacy and effectiveness are different terms. efficacy means it is effective, quote unquote, in the lab. Effective means that it works outside of the lab environment. So you may give this medication that is very efficacious, it reduces blood pressure. But if you reduce somebody's blood pressure too quickly, they then get syncope when they stand up. And so your drug is not effective because it's not changing the thing you care about.
