Scott was diagnosed with a tumor in his brain. He underwent surgery to remove it, and is now cancer-free. After the initial relief he faced fears of paralysis after treatment. Scott says that as soon as people found out they were going to 'bury' him. The kayaker has since made a full recovery but still faces daily challenges.
