Butler does not want to just simply enter women or give women the kind of status that has been associated with men. For her that would simply replicate the very system that she wants to criticize. So for that reason Butler suggests that by critiquing gender, by performing what she calls genealogy of gender as it exists in this world, destabilizes virtually everything we know about ourselves.
