Siddhartha: A lot of the book is about the history of scientific understanding of the cell. And I thought there were a couple of interesting themes that struck me, one of which you refer to explicitly and another which is, I guess, kind of implicit. So first is the way that science moves in these accelerated periods of discovery. And then very little happens for a long time. And then you get another accelerated period. It's just a sheer luck that is involved in the fact that some scientists discovered things, but it was at the wrong time. There was nobody ready to listen. Almost in some cases they were tragically disillusioned by the fact they couldn't get the ideas across
