The Second Problem of the Strategy Getting Rid of Barriers to Cost-Reducing Innovations
Change the tax code to eliminate this penalty on consumers controlling their own health care dollars that would return $1 trillion. Give sicker enrollees a bigger Medicare check so they can afford a basic standard package of health insurance coverage but then leave them alone to make those decisions themselves. Get rid of laws that require new entrants into a market to get permission from the government like fee-for-service and other things that tilt the playing field away from cost-saving innovations.
