The Monastic Service on Wednesday
On Wednesday night, there is a monastic service that's particularly connected with the monastic tradition in Christianity. The service is called tenorbray, which is a word that means shadow or darkness. And as the service goes on, these candles are gradually extinguished one by one until, finally, there's only one candle remaining. This one candle remains and that represents Christ, the light of the world, whose light cannot be extinguished.
