A team of american geologists were studying the craters in arabia terra, which is a region on Mars. They found that these craters are indeed a old volcanoes. So about 500 million to four billion year old volca os. And they probably released a bunch of water vapor and carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide when they erupted. It would have had a really big impact on the climate, possibly making the atmosphere thicker or blocking out the sun.
