The Importance of Defending a Tribe
A large part of their identity, at least in terms of politics is spend defining themselves a member of this tribe and defending said tribe. Even if the positions are self contradictory or if the positions flip within a few years, you'll have the corporate press be there to feed them talking points. It's just such a weird thing to see how quickly people's positions change. I don't think my parents have ever said the word Russia or China in their entire life, it's always Soviet Union and Chai comms.
