When she was diagnosed at nine, my daughter could not read or do comprehension. She now has a different brain and is doing much better in school. I think children naturally go through a process of questioning when they start the medication. My son for quite a while didn't want to take it because he thought people would treat him differently as you were constantly telling them that he had autism. And certainly he did stop the medication forquite a while. It was only when he nearly failed his probation at his job - which involved corporate presentations - that he started taking it again.
